Policy updates

The following new and updated systemwide policies and standards are effective June 30:

  1. Amorous Relationships (III.A.1): The changes to this policy shift the responsibility for determining discipline to the Vice President for Ethics and Compliance and specify HR’s continuing responsibility to advise units on severing supervisory or evaluative relationships to avoid conflicts.
  2. Conflicts of Commitment and Reportable Outside Activities (III.B.1): The updates to this policy clarify the differing responsibilities of exempt versus nonexempt employees and include language regarding the disclosure and evaluation of activities involving non-U.S. entities to meet legal requirements.
  3. Equal Opportunity and Equal Access (III.C.2): New state requirements related to personal characteristics are included.
  4. Residence Classification of Students for Tuition Purposes (II.D.1): Significant revisions to this policy clarify existing factors considered when determining resident status, reduce the time allowed for a dependent student’s parent to leave Indiana, and provide allowances for graduates of Indiana high schools and dependents of Purdue employees.
  5. Title IX Harassment (III.C.4): The update to this policy mirrors language related to false statements with that of related policies.
  6. Foreign Adversary Nations, Interim (III.B.7): This new policy pulls several federal and state requirements pertaining to foreign adversary nations and entities into one policy.
  7. University Senate, Interim (V.B.9): This new policy is a result of legislation by the state assigning an advisory capacity to faculty governance groups and setting requirements for meetings.
  8. Performance Reviews of Faculty (S-4): Added to this standard are the assessment criteria that will be required by the state for tenured faculty reviews going forward.

In addition, minor updates were made to the West Lafayette Undergraduate Admissions (WL-6) policy to align with a recent state law regarding the Honors Plus Enrollment Seal.

Visit the new and revised policies page on the University Policy Office website for a link to the full text of these systemwide policies and standards.

Note: Policies and standards do not apply to Purdue University Global, as it maintains its own policies and standards.
