This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients

Maggie Betz

I am thankful for Maggie (Data Mine) and her innovative team at The Data Mine in Indianapolis. They helped us create a heat map for student availability that has informed several campus partners and the timing of our programming to maximize student engagement. Thank you for sharing your expertise to make a positive difference in the work that we’re doing! — Katie Nelson (Career Success)

Trevor Miller

Trevor (Operations and Maintenance) has been an amazing help and exceptional at communicating. Trevor was asked to help with a bad leak coming from a heater in Krannert. Not only was Trevor on site as fast as possible, dealing with the situation and helping with the damage, but he was also communicating with the facilities manager’s office regularly, giving updates and letting us know as he was completing the steps of the process. Trevor has also gone out of his way to help with situations not necessarily involving him. He was asked about a work order for an occupant that his team was not a part of and was quick to contact the building deputy to figure out the problem. He has a vast technical knowledge of the job, and he strives to communicate and keep everyone in the loop, whether he is responsible for the work or not. He has been a great help in Zone 4, and we appreciate everything he does! — Blake Marks (Daniels School of Business)

Clint Altman, Ryan Rife and Dylan Kingston

A very hard-to-access camera capturing construction of the new chilled water tower needed to be replaced recently outside of the Utility Plant Office Facility. A big thanks to the Electronics Shop, specifically Clint for getting it arranged and Ryan and Dylan (all Operations and Maintenance) for doing the hard work in the freezing cold weather. — Andy Sydelko (Purdue IT) and Ron Reehling (Capital Asset Management)

Travis Mitchell

There has been a vent in the second-floor men’s restroom in Stone Hall that has been dirty for years. Travis (Operations and Maintenance) cleaned it and made it new again, aligning all the screws in the same orientation and shining the ductwork that was previously rusted. Very nice job. Travis always has high attention to detail, which makes the building look and feel new. Thanks! — Josh Shepler (Nutrition Science)

Allec Thomason

For a little over a year, the first-floor men’s restroom has had an odor to it. Allec (Operations and Maintenance) was able to determine that the air flow in the restroom was not correct. Allec replaced the exhaust fan and made the odor go away, bringing in a new, fresh smell. Thanks, Allec! — Josh Shepler (Nutrition Science)

Kelly Spoth

Kelly (Purdue IT) was such a great help as we were implementing a new inspection system in our department. Kelly is always willing to help and answer questions, and he is always kind and quick to respond. Thank you for helping our team make the transition to digital inspections! — Melissa Geiger (State Egg Board)

Will Oprisko

I was working briefly late last Sunday afternoon and found myself needing assistance related to BoilerBot. Despite it being a Sunday — Super Bowl Sunday no less —Will (Purdue IT) responded to my inquiry and quickly assisted me. Thanks, Will, for not grumbling at me and guiding me along to help resolve my issue! — Kristie Bishop (Purdue IT)

Tony Hayden

After several weeks of trying to get the ethernet ports to function on a brand-new motherboard in our vMix streaming computer, I was just about to remove the motherboard and return it for a new one when I spoke to Tony (Purdue IT) and told him my issue. He recommended I try a Winsock reset. Even though I had tried other resets, I decided to give Tony’s idea a try, and bingo! That did the trick. It saved me a lot of work, and, as a bonus, I didn’t pull out the rest of my hair. A big “Thumbs Up” to Tony! — Greg Gochenour (Purdue IT)

Eric Strong

Eric (Building Services) goes above and beyond every evening and does an excellent and thorough job cleaning our new building! He possesses great attention to detail and customer service skills. — Jay Senesac (Computer Science)

Tyler Wright

Thank you, Tyler (Office of Engagement), for all of your hard work on our website! The persistence, patience and extra time you have dedicated throughout this entire process has been a valuable asset to our office, and we want you to know that your efforts are appreciated. Without you, we’d be lost! — Office of Engagement staff

Marion Miller, Cara Powell, Ashley Sarjent and Dan Kitchen

The Purdue Dining and Culinary strategic sourcing and leadership group was fantastic at helping housing facilities acquire bulk bottled water for distribution to University Residences Boiler Apartments residents impacted by the West Lafayette water boil order. Marion (Food Stores), Cara, Ashley and Dan (all Dining Director Operations) went above and beyond to help us ensure that our residents were able to have clean drinking water for the duration of the boil order. They were also very gracious in providing a box truck to make the deliveries. Huge thank-you from University Residences facilities. — Trevor Blackwood (Residential Housing Operations)
