Fidelity remains open Jan. 9 for National Day of Mourning; trades will not be accepted

Human Resources announces that Fidelity, Purdue’s official provider of education, guidance and assistance related to retirement plan investments and decisions, will remain open today (Jan. 9); however, trades will not be accepted in observance of the National Day of Mourning for President Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States. Carter died Dec. 29 at 100 years old.

To honor Carter’s passing, U.S. equity markets will be closed today. In addition, the U.S. bond markets will close early at 2 p.m. ET. Both equity and bond markets are expected to reopen Jan. 10.

Fidelity offers one-on-one consultations with its retirement planners to benefits-eligible faculty and staff. The service is complimentary, and planning partners are welcome to join. Services offered include:

  • Helping individuals enroll in defined contribution or voluntary savings retirement plans
  • Answering retirement questions
  • Developing a comprehensive investment strategy
  • Helping individuals plan for retirement income
  • Explaining options for taking money from account(s) at retirement

See the “Retirement Planning – How You Benefit from a Fidelity Consultation” video for more information on what to expect from a consultation with a Fidelity retirement planner supporting Purdue’s retirement plans.
