Sam Feist, CEO of C-SPAN, visited Purdue’s West Lafayette campus Feb. 25, connecting with President Mung Chiang and students, faculty and staff. His conversations focused on civic engagement, education, the media, Purdue’s deep connection with C-SPAN and the potential for further partnerships. His visit culminated in a townhall for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff, which was co-hosted by the Center for C-SPAN Scholarship & Engagement and the CCSE Student Community.
Purdue alumnus Brian Lamb (BA speech ’63) founded C-SPAN in 1979 to give the country a view into the workings of government. In 1987, Robert Browning, professor of political science and communication, began working with Lamb and the leadership at C-SPAN to create the C-SPAN Archives, located at the Purdue Research Park and considered one of the most comprehensive video archives of governmental and political content. Browning has served as director of the archives since its founding.
