Purdue community invited to donate blood Monday as part of Big Ten/Abbott ‘We Give Blood Drive’ competition

Purdue is stepping up to the challenge in the Big Ten/Abbott “We Give Blood Drive” competition with a blood drive set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday (Oct. 14) at the Purdue Armory.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to sign up for a donation time online. The blood drive will feature members of the Purdue football team, who will be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs and rally support for the cause.

Each donor will receive a $10 e-gift card to use at their favorite restaurant or store. Participants also get a free month of Big Ten Plus streaming and a chance to win tickets and a trip to the 2024 Discover Big Ten Football Championship Game.

Abbott and the Big Ten are partnering on the conferencewide blood donation competition to address a national blood shortage. The winning school, which will be announced Dec. 7 during the Big Ten football championship game, will receive a $1 million award to advance student or community health. Additional details about the “We Give Blood Drive” competition, including a leader board and search to find other donation locations, is available at https://bigten.org/abbott.
