Staff memorial ceremony to be prerecorded, viewable Friday

Purdue’s West Lafayette campus will honor eight staff members who passed away during 2023 in a ceremony that will be prerecorded and made viewable online Friday (April 26).

The Purdue Bell Tower chimes will ring eight times at 3:15 p.m. Friday. Anyone who would like to gather at the bell tower in respect of those commemorated is welcome. The rain location will be in the Purdue Memorial Union’s East Main Lounge.

The recorded ceremony, available for viewing on the staff memorial website, will have remarks by President Mung Chiang as well as a welcome from JJ Sadler, chair of the Management and Professional Staff Advisory Committee, and a closing by Rendi Tharp, chair of the Campus Support Staff Advisory Committee.

Those being commemorated are:

  • Jeffrey “Jeff” Anderson
  • Sara Armstrong
  • Douglas “Doug” Boersma
  • James “Jim” Bush
  • Wendy Kincaid
  • Michele Poitras
  • Jeremiah “Jerry” Shepard
  • Joshua “Josh” Synesael
