Purdue Global’s School of Multidisciplinary and Professional Studies accepting proposals for 2024 Virtual General Education Conference

The Purdue Global School of Multidisciplinary and Professional Studies is now accepting proposals for the 16th annual Virtual General Education Conference. This year’s conference takes place April 23-25, and the theme is “Transitions.”

The General Education Conference offers faculty, staff and administrators the opportunity to discuss and learn about the importance of general education for students. The conference is designed to draw in faculty, staff and administrators to focus on the mission of the School of Multidisciplinary and Professional Studies: to support areas of knowledge that comprise students’ educational foundation.

This year’s conference encompasses the following core tracks: 

  • Research and Innovation in General Education: Share research connected to general education disciplines or cross-disciplinary-related topics.
  • Leadership: Present on research or applications of leadership theory in practice in higher education to demonstrate ways to foster success in a complex global environment.
  • Contemporary Challenges/Trends in Higher Education: Examine contemporary issues, problems and trends in higher education via research connected to general education.
  • Diversity and Inclusivity Within Higher Education: Showcase research that celebrates diversity and highlights the importance of inclusivity within higher e
  • Special Focus Lightning Sessions: These are fast-paced and highly interactive “academic sound bite” sessions, newly expanded to include original creative works.

All faculty, administration and support staff are invited to demonstrate innovations that help others grow, ways to motivate students to propel them toward graduation or showcase how research supports academic reputation.

Interested in presenting at this year’s conference? Faculty and staff across the university are welcome to submit proposals around the theme. Click here for more details. Proposals must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. ET Feb. 2.

This year the conference includes special preconference sessions for Earth Day. Faculty, staff, students and administrators are invited for a day of learning on Monday, April 22, with presentations and activities centered on the theme “Earth Day 2024: Our Sustainable Future.” Please see the Earth Day page on the conference site to learn more and participate.
