Science Olympiad to feature competitions and open events
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – More than 200 middle and high school students from throughout Indiana will test their scientific knowledge on Feb. 19 in the Science Olympiad regional competition at Purdue University.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout campus, featuring 23 science and technology-related competitions and events open to the public. Admission is free. An awards ceremony will follow the events at 4:15 p.m. in the Class of 1950 Lecture Hall, Room 224. A full schedule is available https://www.purdue.edu/scienceo
Throughout the day on the Memorial Mall participants will design and construct bottle rockets to stay aloft for the longest amount of time. Robot Ramble will take place throughout the day in Wetherill Hall of Chemistry, Room 200. Competitors will design and build a robot capable of performing tasks on a playing field.Teachers and parents coach each team, which consists of 15 students. Local scientists and engineers also assist some teams. Schools participating in the West Lafayette Regional are:
