Purdue's 2011 highlights captured on video
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 57th edition of the Purdue Newsreel, a video collection of university highlights from 2011, is now available.
The 13-minute program, produced by the Office of Marketing and Media's Creative Services unit, can be viewed on the Web or is available from the Purdue Undergraduate Library. The video also can be purchased from the Purdue Alumni Association.
The video, "Solar Success," is sponsored by the Alumni Association. It is shown to Purdue alumni clubs around the world. The 2011 newsreel was produced and directed by Ray Cubberley, senior broadcast producer in marketing and media, and is narrated by former WBAA manager Dan Skinner.

Video highlights include: the solar house competition in which Purdue placed second; Purdue's newest solar-powered car; both the campus EV Grand Prix and the one at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway; the gas-powered Grand Prix; the dedication of the Gatewood Wing of mechanical engineering; two new buildings – Marriott Hall and Hanley Hall; the rededication of Mackey Arena, including public tours; highlights from men's and women's basketball; a big volleyball win over Nebraska; highlights from women's crew; the football team's win over Western Michigan in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl; football victories over Indiana, Ohio State and Illinois; the dedication of the newly renovated Boilermaker Special; Homecoming-related events; President France A. Córdova's retirement announcement; start-of-school events; Purdue Day at the Indiana State Fair; commencement; and a variety of Purdue Alumni Association events.
