Division of Financial Aid to help students file their FAFSA
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – All current and newly admitted Purdue University students planning on attending in the fall of 2011 must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1 to receive priority consideration for federal, state and university-controlled financial aid.
"Some types of financial aid come from limited sources, so students should not procrastinate in filing their FAFSA," said David Reseigh, outreach coordinator at Purdue's Division of Financial Aid. "Our office has been reminding students and families of the approaching deadline by providing financial aid filing information through e-mail, area outreach programs and via our website."
Students and their families also can get free FAFSA filing help from financial aid experts at College Goal Sunday on Feb 20, starting at 2 p.m. Families in the Lafayette area can attend at Ivy Tech Community College's Ivy Hall, 3101 S. Creasy Lane. A complete list of the 30 participating sites around the state can be found at https://www.collegegoalsunday.org/
"High school seniors should attend with their parent(s) or guardian(s) and bring their parents' 2010 income, asset and benefits information," Reseigh said. "Students who worked last year should also bring their own earnings information."
Families can go online to https://www.purdue.edu/dfa/all/apply11-12.php for important filing information. Students also can print a helpful worksheet and file the FAFSA at https://www.fafsa.gov
