Recruiters will flock to Industrial Roundtable
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — More than 265 companies will crowd onto Purdue University's Memorial Mall Tuesday and Wednesday (Sept. 14 and 15) for the 31st annual Industrial Roundtable.
The roundtable, a huge outdoor job fair, is sponsored by the Purdue Engineering Student Council.
This year's fair has attracted 25 more companies than last year. Along with traditional, large corporations that have recruited at Purdue for years are some smaller engineering companies new to the event.
More than 5,000 students, primarily in engineering, science and technology, are expected to be at the Industrial Roundtable. Participating companies are recruiting for full-time, co-op and internship positions.
Companies also are given the opportunity to provide money for scholarships for Purdue students. This year, a record $25,000 was raised from 14 companies.
The job fair starts a day after the Wall Street Journal released a survey that showed Purdue was No. 4 on a list of the top 25 universities favored by recruiters for U.S. companies.
In the survey’s specialty rankings, Purdue was ranked first in management information systems, second in engineering and eighth in computer science.
The roundtable will be from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days. The mall is located across from Stewart Center.
