Musicians needed for Purdue Summer Band

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue's Summer Band is open to all instrumentalists on campus and in Greater Lafayette interested in making music part of their summer activities.On July 13, the band will perform a program of light classics and Broadway tunes, including Warren Barker's "Broadway Showstoppers Overture" and selections from "West Side Story" in honor of composer Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday. The band is led by Jay Gephart, director of Purdue Bands, and Professor Ishbah Cox.
Rehearsals will be held in Elliott Hall of Music on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m., beginning June. 22. It is open to Purdue students, high school students, university faculty and staff, and area musicians. No auditions are necessary. Those needing an instrument can check one out from the Bands' Supply Office prior to the first rehearsal.
Purdue students wishing to obtain credit for their participation can receive two hours of credit by enrolling in Band 117. All participants should download the participation form at https://www.purdue.edu/bands, fill it out and return it to the Band Office, 135 Elliott Hall, or bring it to the first rehearsal.
