H1N1 vaccine offered at 4 locations for Purdue's Wellness Week
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Student Health Center will offer H1N1 vaccine at four sites Monday through Friday (Feb. 1-5) as part of university's Wellness Week, Healthy Planet 2010.
The vaccine schedule is as follows:
* Monday, 4-7 p.m., Recreational Sports Center.
* Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Purdue Memorial <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />
* Thursday, noon to 5 p.m., Black Cultural Center.
* Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Student Health Center, Room G51.
The vaccine is free for students. Purdue faculty, staff, retirees and their spouses/domestic partners are assessed a $12 administration fee, covered by Purdue medical plans.
"For those who have not yet been immunized, now is a good time to get the vaccine," said James Westman, director of the Purdue Student Health Center. "While H1N1 activity is currently low, the Centers for Disease Control expects additional cases to emerge during the next few months. Since this is a newly emerging virus, the CDC also encourages those who have had the illness to get the vaccine, as there is not yet enough data to show that having the illness confers immunity."
