Appointments, honors and activities
• Campus activities:
- The Native American Educational and Cultural Center and the DiversiKey Certificate Program will present a screening of the film "Two Spirits" at 6 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 12). The film documents the story of a mother's loss of her son when the world was not divided into male and female and why many Native American cultures honor people of integrated genders. The showing, part of Purdue's National Coming Out Day celebration, will be in Stewart Center, Room218. It is free and open to the public.
• Student honors:
- Agricultural and biological engineering doctoral student Rebecca A. Logsdon was selected to receive the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers' Robert E. Stewart Engineering-Humanities Award for her work in advancing the interaction of the profession and the humanities. Logsdon was recognized for her involvement in student mentoring programs, speaking engagements, advocacy positions, educational outreach efforts and leadership positions at Purdue and elsewhere. She received the award at the organization's annual meeting in Louisville, Ky., in August. Logsdon is a student in the ecological sciences and engineering interdisciplinary graduate program and the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
-Aravind Ramamoorthy, Rajeetha Khanse, and Ayan Chatterjee, MBA students in the Krannert School of Management, received first place in the BMC service management case competition. The competition was part of the Service Management Conference in Washington, D.C. Though the team had very little experience in IT service management, they beat two teams who were certified experts in that field.
