• Faculty and staff honors:
- Willie M. Reed, dean of the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine, has received the Iverson Bell Recognition Award from the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges. The award was given in recognition of Reed's leadership and contributions in promoting opportunities for underrepresented minorities in veterinary medical education. - Susan Tharp, an extension educator for the College of Health and Human Sciences who is the county extension director in Clinton Country, received the CHEP Community & Science Award from the Community Health Engagement Program. The program is part of the Indiana Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute. Tharp was honored March 11 at a statewide meeting for her performance as a Purdue Extension Educator.
- Tony Vyn, professor of agronomy, received the Werner L. Nelson Award from the Fluid Fertilizer Foundation at the recent Fluid Forum in Scottsdale, Ariz. The award is presented annually to an individual who has made contributions to the development of soil fertility practices and plant nutrition management that have resulted in increased crop yields for North American farmers. Vyn is a researcher and Purdue Extension agronomist, specializing in cropping systems. He joined the Purdue faculty in 1998 after serving as an agronomy professor at the University of Guelph, Canada.
