WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Rabindra Mukerjea, Purdue executive director of strategic planning and assessment, has received the Order of the Griffin from President France A. Córdova.
The Order of the Griffin, one of Purdue's highest honors, is given to individuals whose commitment and service to the university go well beyond the call of duty, and whose strength and vision have greatly benefited the institution.
Mukerjea received the award Tuesday (Sept. 28) at the President's Forum in Purdue Memorial Union.
"You have been unselfish and inspiring in leading us as we strive to reach our goals and beyond," Córdova said. "You are an architect by discipline, and now, fittingly, you are the architect who shaped our goals and aspirations into a coherent design. We are extremely grateful for all you have done and continue to do for this great university."
Mukerjea joined Purdue in 2001 and has guided the university through the development and implementation of two strategic plans: The Next Level: Pre-eminence (2001-2007) and New Synergies (2008-2014).
Past recipients of the Order of the Griffin have included Nobel Prize winner Herbert Brown, and astronauts Neil Armstrong and Gene Cernan.
