Appointments, honors and activities
• Notables:
- Purdue's College of Agriculture collected 3,163 items in the college's first food drive, which took place April 16-20. The items were donated to the Food Finders Food Bank. The Department of Botany and Plant Pathology won the departmental competition, with 674 food items collected. Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Youth Development and Food Science placed second through fifth. The Food Drive will become an annual event.
• Alumni honors:
- The School of Nursing honored two alumni this year. Mary Anne Patton Sloan received the 2010 Career Achievement Award, and Julie White Albert received the Young Alumni Award. Sloan graduated from the School of Nursing in 1987 and is director of Purdue's Healthcare Technical Assistance Program, called HealthcareTAP, which applies principles of engineering, nursing, management and science to health-care delivery. Albert is a 2002 graduate and is a women's health nurse practitioner at Trinity Clinic in Carmel, Ind. She also is a continuing lecturer in maternal/child nursing at the Purdue School of Nursing.
