WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Bay Area Children's Theatre and the Oregon Children's Theatre will present the all-new musical "The Magic School Bus - LIVE: The Climate Challenge," at 3 p.m. on Feb. 12 in Purdue University's Loeb Playhouse.

The performance, presented by Purdue Convocations, is recommended for ages 5-8. Audience members may attend a pre-show activity and learn about global warming from the Purdue Department of Earth and Atmospheric Science and the Purdue Climate Change Research Center - at 2 p.m. in the Stewart Center West Lobby.

"The Magic School Bus" celebrates its 25th anniversary with an all-new musical adventure. Ms. Frizzle's students are putting on a play about global warming, and they need some cold, hard facts. The Friz and her reptilian sidekick, Liz, know just where to find them.

This is no ordinary field trip, as a hop on the Magic School Bus takes the class and the audience on a whirlwind tour. From the Arctic to the Equator, they see telltale signs of climate change and learn how conservation, recycling and alternative energy can make a difference.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for those 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. Tickets are available at the Elliott Hall and Stewart Center box offices at 765-494-3933 or 800-914-SHOW. Tickets are also available through Ticketmaster outlets.

Initiated in 1902, Purdue Convocations is among the oldest collegiate professional performing arts presenters in the United States. Each year, Convocations offers the region 20 to 30 performances of widely varying genres.
