Religious groups build bridges to commemorate 9/11

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue's University Religious Leaders and religious student organizations are commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11 by building bridges among diverse faiths with the following events:

      * Wednesday (Sept. 7), 6-7 p.m., Side by Side Interfaith Scriptures Study of Creation at First United Methodist Church, Room 209. The church is located just west of campus at 1700 Ind. 26 W.

      * Thursday (Sept. 8), 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Faith Awareness and Friendship Day. Students can stop by tables on Purdue's Hello Walk to talk with various groups to learn more about their faith and ministries.

      * Thursday (Sept. 8), 7:30-9:30 p.m., Interfaith Soccer and Ultimate Recreation Night at the black intramural fields.

      * Friday (Sept. 9), 12:30-2:30 p.m. Muslim Student Association invites Purdue students to join them for lunch, socializing, discussion and tours of the Islamic Center, 1022 First St. (modest dress requested).

      * Sunday (Sept. 11), 3-4:30 p.m., Purdue 9/11 10th anniversary commemorative event on the Purdue Mall.

      * Sunday (Sept. 11), 6:30 p.m., Community Interfaith Service of Remembrance and Hope at Columbian Park (Memorial Island) featuring reflections, songs and prayers from six faith traditions.
