College celebrates fourth Experience Liberal Arts month

September 27, 2010

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Relationships, sustainability, politics, religion and art are some of the topics featured in nearly 50 events during Purdue University's Experience Liberal Arts month.

The celebration, which takes place in October and is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts, celebrates the college's research and teaching in the arts, humanities and social sciences.

"Experience Liberal Arts month provides a wonderful opportunity for liberal arts faculty and students, as well as special guests of the college, to highlight their outstanding teaching, learning and research," said Irwin Weiser, Justin S. Morrill Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. "Their scholarship and discoveries in the arts, humanities and social science, inspire us to think about our places in the world. From studying how we age, to explaining political or religious trends, and using movies and film to document war and poverty, our liberal arts faculty and students are engaged in understanding and explaining complex problems."
