American Indian Science and Engineering Society regional conference to be held on Purdue's campus

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The annual American Indian Science and Engineering Society regional conference will be held at Purdue for the first time March 5-6.

The theme for this year's conference is "Keeping Our Circle Strong: Native American Leaders of 2010."

The schedule of events includes information sessions, chapter development programs and presentations from Native American faculty and professionals throughout the region.

At the event, the Purdue University chapter and the Michigan State University chapter of AISES will co-sponsor a Native American Round Dance celebration to honor Native Americans from all nations.

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) was founded in 1977 by American Indian scientists, engineers and educators. Through a variety of educational programs, AISES offers financial, academic and cultural support to American Indians and Alaska Natives from middle school through graduate school. The AISES Purdue chapter consists of undergraduate and graduate students in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, animal science, botany and plant pathology, computer science, and more.
