College of Technology to host Apple iPhone, iPod, iPad seminar

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Individuals can learn more about applications for Apple Inc.'s mobile platforms, including the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad during a March 9 seminar on campus.

Purdue College of Technology and its student chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) will host Introduction to Making an iPhone App from 6-8 p.m. in Room 161 of the Mechanical Engineering Building.

Speaker Steve Hayman, an Apple consulting engineer, will show how individuals and institutions are building innovative mobile applications for their organizations and broader audiences. He will highlight and deconstruct some popular applications and how to get started building personal applications using Apple's free developer program.

In addition, he will discuss Web development with Dashcode, native application development with Xcode and Interface Builder, and will review the integration and deployment options and Apple's developer program.

Professor Kyle Lutes of the Department of Computer and Information Technology also will be announcing the new iPhone application development course he will be offering during the Fall 2010 semester.
