Engineering week at Purdue to include bed races

February 8, 2010

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue Engineering Student Council will hold bed races Feb. 17 as part of the campus celebration of National Engineers Week.

Teams will push beds, provided by the council, around an obstacle course set up in the Purdue Armory. One obstacle consists of water and 600 pounds of cornstarch donated by Tate & Lyle.

Two teams will race at a time in heats with the fastest time winning.

The free event runs from 6-9 p.m. The public is invited to attend and can participate in the races. Anyone younger than 18 who wants to participate must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
