WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Shelley MacDermid Wadsworth, Distinguished Professor of Human Development and Family Studies and director of Purdue University’s Military Family Research Institute, will participate in an Oct. 21 roundtable hosted by the U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs to discuss the National Veterans Strategy Act.

The proposed legislation would establish a comprehensive national strategy to better align resources and policies to improve well-being for veterans and their families. The roundtable will explore how to define and measure veteran success, implement the strategy, and address potential unintended outcomes.

MacDermid Wadsworth teaches in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Her research focuses on the relationship between work and family life, particularly among military families. As institute director, she leads research and outreach that helps communities and professionals apply evidence-based practices to support military members, veterans and their families.
