Clarification on admissions in light of recent misreporting in certain media (March 2, 2026)
1. As evidenced by the admissions offers already being made in the ongoing undergraduate and graduate admissions season, there is no “ban of applicants” from the Countries of Concern listed by the U.S. Government.
2. As a public state institution in the U.S., Purdue believes that an increase in the enrollment percentage of students who applied in the U.S. is a positive reversal of the national trend.
3. Applicants in the U.S. are treated without regard to sex, race, and country of origin.
4. Among Applicants not in the U.S., those who are (a) obligated to national security laws of governments in Countries of Concern, and (b) from institutions on Sanction Lists or Entity Lists announced by the U.S. Government with legal restrictions or prohibitions, and (c) applying to enter the U.S. to study sensitive technologies, need to be vetted for institutional compliance before admissions are offered, especially when public funds in the U.S. are used.
