WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Influential global technology leader Lisa Su, the visionary chief executive officer and chair of semiconductor company AMD, will join Purdue University President Mung Chiang in early March for a Presidential Lecture Series event focusing on the role high-performance computing plays in our world and how deep partnerships between industry and universities can advance innovation.
The event, titled “Strategic Circuits: How University and Industry Partnerships Will Power the AI Era,” is at 5 p.m. Monday, March 2, in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but a ticket is required. For tickets and more information, go here.

“What an honor and privilege to welcome Dr. Su to the Purdue campus for a Presidential Lecture Series conversation,” Chiang said. “The campus is excited to hear Dr. Su’s thoughts about the trends and promise of the semiconductor industry — and how Purdue can partner with AMD to help solve the world’s most important challenges by delivering the next generation of computing and AI solutions.”
Dr. Su holds bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) fellow, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Time magazine named Dr. Su its 2024 CEO of the Year, and she has received the Global Semiconductor Alliance’s Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award and the Semiconductor Industry Association’s Robert N. Noyce Award. Dr. Su serves as chair of the board of directors of the Semiconductor Industry Association.
Prior to Advanced Micro Devices Inc., known as AMD, Dr. Su served as senior vice president and general manager of networking and multimedia at Freescale and spent 13 years at IBM in engineering and business leadership positions.
About the Presidential Lecture Series
Launched in 2014 by then-Purdue President Mitch Daniels and continued by President Mung Chiang, the Presidential Lecture Series exposes Purdue students and the broader community to inspiring ideas, courageous leadership, and models of civic engagement and civil discourse. The Presidential Lecture Series has had dozens of guests of many viewpoints and perspectives and hosted some of the great intellectual, business and civic leaders of our time. As one of the world’s premier centers of scholarly leadership, Purdue is — appropriately and necessarily — a regular venue for great thinkers across a wide variety of disciplines.
