Purdue University names Chiang its next president

The Purdue Board of Trustees announced June 10 its unanimous election of Mung Chiang, currently the John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering and executive vice president for strategic initiatives, as the university’s next president. Chiang will replace current president Mitch Daniels effective Jan. 1, 2023.

An edible QR code takes a shot at fake whiskey

Young Kim and Jungwoo Leem, of Purdue’s Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, are part of a global research team that has developed an edible QR code on a tag made of specialized silk that could help consumers detect fake whiskey – a step that could be not only a solution for the alcohol industry but also one that addresses fake medications.

Gift to Purdue establishes Institute for Advanced Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals

The William D. Young Institute for Advanced Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals at Purdue, launched with a gift from William D. Young, will unite faculty in overhauling pharmaceutical manufacturing with a goal of reducing costs and expanding access to innovative drugs emerging from biotechnology research.
