Purdue annual Day of Giving set for Wednesday (April 27), features systemwide participation

Power Purdue's Next Giant Leap

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —

The ninth annual Purdue Day of Giving is scheduled for Wednesday (April 27), providing donors the opportunity to help power Purdue’s next giant leap.

The 24-hour online, social media-driven fundraising effort will feature systemwide participation through the West Lafayette, Fort Wayne and Purdue Northwest campuses as well as Purdue Global, the online university tailored to working adults. County Extension offices will also participate, allowing each county in Indiana to raise funds for Extension programming. New participants for 2022 include the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue, the Office of Engagement, The Data Mine and the Purdue Military Research Institute.

Purdue students, alumni, faculty and staff; parents; retirees; and friends are encouraged to give back on Wednesday to provide opportunities and transform lives at the university. Participation in 30 hourly and six #IGave challenges can make each gift go even farther, and any donation can help the donor’s favorite unit (campus, college, school, program or student organization) claim the top spots on the donation and participation leaderboards for additional bonus funds.

A student celebration, scheduled for 2-8 p.m. in the France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center parking lot, will feature a Ferris wheel, yard games, a photo booth, food trucks and more. Purdue students who make a gift on Wednesday will gain access to the Ferris wheel’s fast-pass line.

From its $7.5 million total in 2014, Purdue Day of Giving has seen consistent growth. Last year’s event raised a record $52.5 million—topping the previous year’s $42.2 million—with 25,219 gifts received from donors around the world.
