Due to budget shortfalls, Purdue is losing its full-time Master Gardener State Coordinator position. Peggy Sellers will be embarking on a new career path with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. Peggy served as the Purdue State Master Gardener Program Coordinator from September 2002 – November 2006 and prior to that, was the Director of the Purdue Plant and Pest Diagnostic Laboratory for 7 years.
From Peggy:
“I have enjoyed the past 11 years in Purdue Extension. Our time together will not be remembered by projects or programs, but rather by the relationships I have gained. I have accepted a position as Faith-based Mentor Coordinator with Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Lafayette. Thank you all for walking with me on my journey. Perhaps our paths will cross again. ”
We wish Peggy all the best in her new position, she will be greatly missed!
Rosie Lerner, Purdue Extension Consumer Horticulture Specialist will be re-assuming the responsibilities of the State Coordinator. Rosie previously served as Master Gardener State Coordinator from 1984 – 2002.
Mary Welch-Keesey, Purdue Extension Consumer Horticulture Specialist at the White River Gardens in Indianapolis, will be joining the state Master Gardener “team” as Master Gardener Educational Programming Specialist. Many of you have already met Mary as an instructor in basic MG Intern training and advanced training sessions. In addition to providing training for Master Gardeners and Extension Educators, Mary will coordinate efforts to revise and augment MG program teaching resources and develop a standardized curriculum training manual.
