PhD Student | Advisor: Dr. Josh Widhalm
We’re excited to welcome Bishop Debnath to our graduate student community! Originally from West Bengal, India, Bishop brings a strong academic background and a passion for plant science. He completed his undergraduate degree in Agriculture (B.Sc) from HNB Garhwal University, followed by a Master’s in Agricultural Biotechnology (M.Tech) from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
Currently pursuing a PhD under the guidance of Dr. Josh Widhalm, Bishop’s research focuses on plant secondary metabolism and allied areas—a field that explores the fascinating chemical compounds plants produce beyond their basic metabolic needs.
Outside the lab, Bishop is a vibrant and creative individual. He enjoys painting, traveling, and playing table tennis. A music enthusiast, he loves exploring global music and occasionally sings himself!
