On Friday, June 27th, the College of Agriculture’s Office of Academic Programming partnered with Vicki Stirm to host an exciting hands-on experience for 42 Juntos 4-H students from across Indiana. These junior high and middle school students rotated through 40-minute sessions designed to introduce them to the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture (HLA) and the diverse career paths it offers.

Vicki kicked off each session with an engaging overview of the department and the many opportunities available to students pursuing a degree in HLA. The highlight of the day was a hands-on activity in vegetative propagation, where students learned how to make cuttings from houseplants to grow new ones. Each student left with their own propagated plant and some HLA swag.
