On October 4, the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture (HLA) paid tribute to the remarkable contributions of Dr. Cary Mitchell with a symposium titled “Celebrating the Research Legacy of Dr. Cary Mitchell.” The event gathered an esteemed group of speakers, many of whom have been directly influenced by Dr. Mitchell’s pioneering work.
The symposium featured former members of the Mitchell Lab, including Dr. Celina Gómez, Associate Professor at Purdue University’s Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture; Jonathan Frantz, Senior Technology Leader at Corteva Agriculture; and keynote speaker Gioia Massa, Senior Scientist at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.
