HLA Weed Science Students Compete in Contest

Purdue Weed Science Teams at the 2025 North Central Weed Science Society Weed Contest.

The 2025 North Central Weed Science Society Weed Contest was held on July 31, 2025 at the BASF Midwest Research Farm in Seymour, Illinois. Purdue University brought three teams, including one made up of current and former HLA members: Helen Nocito (HLA MS student), Celia Corado (HLA MS student), Nicolle Salamanca (HLA visiting scholar), and Emmanuel Cooper (BPP PhD student and HLA alumnus).

Students were tested on weed identification, herbicide symptomology, calibration, herbicide application technology, and farmer problem solving and recommendations.
