Salutation farm loving nation!
Greetings from our student farm
It’s been another lovely week,
The land is lovely, rich with charm
And full of the veggies that you seek.
We’ve been a little low on labor
But we’re having such fun, and spirits are high
We’re dealing with typical pest misbehavior
And protecting ourselves from the blazing hot sky.
Tomato care has dominated many an hour
They’ve grown so tall that they had to be dropped
With sixteen bins harvested, we have quite a tower
We’re annoyed, yet thankful that production has popped.
Unfortunately, our green kale seems to be diseased
We’ll pause the distribution to let it recover
This news has left Chris feeling quite displeased
And will offend any Kale & Swiss chard lover.
But fear not, this is to be expected
Some crops falter and some will thrive.
While next week our kale & chard are rejected
Our onion production is coming alive.
Five beds of onions were torn from the earth
Resulting in fifty-five crates
We used our block space for all it was worth
And obtained these record-high rates.
Our zucchini plants scratch our legs as we pass
Their fruit has exploded in size
We have a few with a bit too much mass
They can be yours, if you wish for this prize.
Eggplant production is now off the chart
Orange, green, white, and purple varieties
Bring an extra bag if you wish to fully take part
indulge, and share with your societies.
I know you’re excited to tear the bag apart,
So don’t miss pickup, you’ll want to zoom
This week, we’re bringing back the flower cart!
You can walk up and assemble these blooms.
We’ll still have the option for you to drive through
But parking must be done on the side
If you park in the way, we’ll feel so blue
So be mindful, and we won’t have to chide.
Before I share with you more information,
Let me highlight a coworker of mine
His departure this Friday is not met with elation
As we hate to lose a friend so fine
Raffi Lindsay has worked here for three summers
He’s a sophomore attending ball state
His semester is starting, so his leavings a bummer
He works hard, and he seldom is late.
He likes to play music, specifically euphonium
He performs in multiple bands
He’s a very funny guy, for a laugh you can go to him
He enjoys working with his hands.
On the farm, favorite part? He’ll tell you “the folk”
Coworkers, and customers too
Though we tease him, “Ball state? That’s a hoax!”
We wish him luck as we bid him adieu.
