Faculty from Purdue University’s Landscape Architecture program participated in the 2026 Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) Conference

Yiwei Huang, Sean Rotar, and Dave Barbarash

Landscape Architecture faculty members, Professor Sean Rotar, Professor Dave Barbarash, and Professor Yiwei Huang, participated in the 2026 Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. During the conference, Sean Rotar attended the Administration Lunch with CELA President. David Barbarash and Yiwei Huang attended the CELA Executive Board Meetings as the 2nd Vice President & Chair of Standing Committee on Awards and Recognition, and the Region 5 Director.

They’ve also delivered the following research presentations:

  • Sean Rotar and David Barbarash. Combining Cohorts: Progress and Achievement [Design, Education, and Pedagogy Track]
  • Yiwei Huang. Community engagement in landscape studio teaching: Lessons and reflections for the past five years [Design, Education, and Pedagogy Track]
  • Kuang Xin and Yiwei Huang. Open Data and UGC: Midwestern Parks and Collective Design Insights. [Landscape Architecture for Health Track]

During the Awards Dinner, Professor Dave Barbarash received the CELA Triad Award in recognition of his service contributions, and Yiwei Huang received a certificate of appreciation for her service as a track chair.
