Chris Adair shares some of his favorite tools to use for weed control at the Student Farm during the vegetable breakout session.
On November 6th, Ashley Adair co-hosted Marbleseed’s first Organic University event outside the state of Wisconsin with Tay Fatke (Marbleseed) and Leon Atwell (OFARM) in Danville, IN. The event caters to both specialty crop and grain farmers interested in organic transition and management. Tay and Jenn Whaley (OnMark Certification Services) kicked off the event with an intro to organic certification, followed by Sam Oschwald-Tilton (Glacial Drift Enterprises) and Dan Perkins (Perkins Good Earth Farm), discussing soil health in organic systems. Special thanks to Laura Ingwell (ENTM), Chris Adair (HLA), and Sam Oschwald-Tilton for presenting during the specialty crops breakout session, and to Mike Stites (Rex Stites Farms), Leon Atwell, and the OFARM team for presenting during the grain breakout session.

Laura Ingwell discusses aphids during a session on integrated pest management for organic vegetables.

Dan Perkins outlines his approach to soil health at his farm in northwest Indiana.
