Is there a specific way that we should work with the pounds and meters? Can we convert the pounds to newtons and just work from there?
You could probably convert pounds to newtons using the conversion factor between pounds and newtons (approximately 1 lb = 4.448 N), which would allow you to use the metric system. Personally, I didn't worry too much about the units and sticked with whatever is given in the problem. For example, the weight of B is given in lbs, so I would write the answers for tensions in lbs to be consistent without any conversions.
I just worked with the units that were given since that's what Prof. Jones did in most of the example videos.
When solving a system of equations (three equations and three unknowns), must the steps be written out in full or can a calculator be used to solve the system?
From what Prof. Jones said in class, the majority of the steps need to be shown, but when solving a matrix, that can be done on the calculator as long as all prior steps are shown.
