All program staff are required to complete training on youth safety and the requirements for mandatory reporting in Indiana.
Programs must conduct and document registry checks on ALL program staff. This includes faculty, staff, or students at the University, volunteers, and third party sponsors’ staff.
Purdue requires that Programs have a policy to prohibit one-on-one interactions between youth and adults. The goal of such a policy is to prevent the isolation of one adult and one youth, a situation that elevates the risk for child sexual abuse.
Anyone operating a vehicle in conjunction with a Program sponsored by a unit of the University must be an Authorized Driver, as defined in the policy on Use of Vehicles for University Business (IV.A.1).
All youth must follow program and departmental rules regarding Residence Hall, Campus, and Facility Safety.
University sponsored programs can request insurance coverage through the Risk Management Office. Third-party sponsored programs involving minors are required to obtain Sexual Abuse and Molestation Liability Insurance of at least $1 million to mitigate potential liabilities.
