Re: SVP Jim Almond to retire June 30
Dear colleagues,
I write to inform you that Jim Almond, our senior vice president and assistant treasurer, has announced his plans to retire from his service to Purdue, effective June 30, 2022.
Jim has spent nearly his entire professional career at Purdue – after earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University – spanning 39 years, four university presidents and six chief financial officers.
Jim joined Purdue in 1983 as a project administrator in the Office of Contract and Grant Business Affairs. He subsequently held managerial roles in Accounting Services and the Department of Personnel Services before becoming assistant director of investments in 1992, assistant comptroller in 1995, comptroller in 1996, vice president for business services and assistant treasurer in 1998, and senior vice president for business services and assistant treasurer in 2009. He served as interim executive vice president for business and finance and treasurer in 2008.
His many roles have included responsibility for budgeting and fiscal planning, oversight of school and departmental business affairs, administration of sponsored program services, human resource services, business services computing, comptroller, treasury operations, procurement and working with the regional campus Vice Chancellors for Finance and Administration.
In 2009, Jim received the Order of the Griffin, one of the university’s highest honors, given to individuals whose commitment and service to Purdue go well beyond the call of duty, and whose strength and vision have greatly benefited our institution.
Throughout his tenure, Jim has been held in the highest regard for his tremendous integrity, collaborative approach, passion for and loyalty to the University and his willingness to assist on a myriad of projects and leadership responsibilities across all Purdue campuses – all while upholding Purdue’s high standards for fiscal integrity and reputation as a national leader in business operations. Our entire campus community has reason to be grateful for his service.
Please join me in thanking Jim for his extraordinary efforts and wishing him the very best in the next chapter of his life.
