Re:  Leadership Change in Information Technology at Purdue

Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the promotion of Anthony Newman to Chief Information Security Officer for Purdue University, effective November 1, 2020.  Anthony has held this position in an interim capacity since March 2020 and during this time he has made a tremendous impact to improve the security posture of Purdue.

Over the past months, Anthony and his team have successfully consolidated and integrated the security functions of the Purdue regional and main campuses into a system-wide organization and engineered the Purdue security posture to effectively enable and support our remote workforce in response to COVID.  Anthony has also directed the completion of a variety of other risk assessments during this time and he is well positioned to lead Purdue Security to the next level of excellence.

Anthony has more than 18 years of experience working within information technology in a variety of roles and organizations including the last 4+ years at Purdue.

Anthony holds Computer Science and Management degrees as well as an MBA from Purdue.  He also holds a GSEC Security Essentials certificate from the Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) organization.

Please join me in congratulating Anthony on this well-earned promotion.
