The Navy program at Purdue aims at addressing unique challenges in the Navy by building, evaluating and sustaining a Navy-focused course and research program in Power and Energy for senior undergraduate and graduate students. This program is part of the Naval Enterprise Partnership Teaming with Universities for National Excellence (NEPTUNE) pilot program which was established by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installations and Environment and the Office of Naval Research (ONR), with funding from ONR, to provide professional education and development for the military community through participation in university based research projects. Two other components of Navy programs are: (1) developing a Power and Energy STEM 500-level course; (2) setting up a gas chromatography with mass spectrometry for researching and testing alternate aviation fuels.
