What is Boiler Out?

The Boiler Out Student Organization provides both international and domestic students with meaningful community service projects that reflect its three core values of Outreach, Understanding, and Teamwork. Participants do a variety of volunteer work alongside other Purdue students and local community members.

If you are interested in meeting new people while at the same time helping the Greater Lafayette Community through volunteering your time and energy, then this is the right group for you! Some past events have been: Boo at the Zoo, BINGO at a local nursing home, helping at an elementary school festival, work day at Camp Tecumseh, Food Finders Food Bank, ushering at the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, socializing animals at the Almost Home Humane Society, etc.

You can commit as much time as you would like to volunteering, but we expect those that sign up for activities to be accountable, reliable, and somewhat flexible. Our goal is for you to find an activity that you are passionate about and meet others with similar interest. Through that, we hope that you move along the active citizen continuum, from volunteer to conscientious citizen to an active citizen. We have various activities set up that are open to all our volunteers to sign up, but we also welcome you to plan your own volunteer work (and we would be happy to share info about it if you would like a group of volunteers to be involved!).

Why should I volunteer?

How do I join?

You can join the organization through our BoilerLink page or email that you would like to receive more information about activities. You may join the Boiler OUT Student Organization any time during the school year. At this moment, we will be volunteering throughout the summer and will have a call out meeting in the fall where you can learn more about what we have done and plan to do!
