Purdue makes masks optional in many indoor spaces

Given that campus case numbers are dropping and severity continues to remain low, effective today (Feb. 18), Purdue will make face masks optional on the West Lafayette campus, except for instructional, research and health care settings, as well as where contractually required. Purdue Athletics venues will be among the indoor spaces where masks will be considered optional.

Outreach counselors look to attract more Black and minority Boilermakers

Creating awareness and sharing the Purdue story with prospective Black and minority students from Indiana is the job of Shanita Starks and Alex Pettigrew, two new outreach counselors in the Office of Enrollment Management. The new positions were created as part of the implementation of the recommendations put forth by the Purdue Equity Task Force.

Today (Feb. 18) marks one year since the Perseverance rover landed on Mars following a seven-month, 300-million-mile flight across space. Briony Horgan, associate professor of planetary science and Perseverance team member, said anticipation is building as the team focuses on the mission goal: researching a now-dry large river delta.
