2017 Awards

  • Rachel Clark, Continuing Lecturer, is the recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Dietetics Educator Award in a Coordinated Program in Dietetics for Area 5 (IL, IN, OH, WV, KY, TN) of the Nutrition and Dietetics Educators and Preceptors group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  The Outstanding Dietetics Educator Award recognizes the teaching, mentoring, and leadership activities of faculty in ACEND-accredited dietetics education programs.
  • Cordelia Running, Assistant Professor, is the recipient of the inaugural Patsy Mellott Teaching Innovation Award from the College of Health and Human Sciences, Purdue University.
  • Nana Gletsu Miller, Assistant Professor, is the recipient of a 2017 AgSEED Award.
  • Tara Henagan, Assistant Professor, is the recipient of a 2017 AgSEED Award.
  • Michele Forman, Professor and Head, is the recipient of the 2017 Pfizer Consumer Healthcare Nutritional Sciences Award supported by Pfizer from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).
  • Connie Weaver, Distinguished Professor, is the recipient of the 2017 David Kritchevsky Career Achievement Award in Nutrition supported by Mondelez International from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).
  • Cordelia Running, Assistant Professor, is the recipient of a 2017 AgSEED Award.
  • Mri Datta, Katie Hill Gallant, Dinah Dalder, Rachel Clark, Lisa Graves and Donna Zoss are the recipients of the 2016-2017 Learning Community Real-World Experience Award.
  • Kathleen Hill Gallant and Connie Weaver received the "Seed for Success" Award from the EVPRP office for the DASH-Sodium Trial in Adolescents.

2016 Awards

  • Wayne Campbell, Professor, was appointed to the 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee, United States Department of Health and Human Services, as well as to the Advisor Council on Nutrition and Healthy Food Choices, Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (www.foundationfar.org). 
  • Barb Mayfield, Continuing Lecturer, is the recipient of the Outstanding Dietetics Educator in a Coordinated Program in Dietetics by the Indiana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Wayne Campbell, Professor, is the 2016 recipient of the Research Excellence Award from the Purdue Center on Aging and the Life Course.
  • Sunhye Shin, graduate student, received a 2016 Teaching Academy Graduate Teaching Award.
  • Yu-Han Hung and Sunhye Shin, graduate students, earned Graduate Instructional Development Certificates.
  • Jennifer Mansfield, graduate student, earned a Graduate Teacher Certificate.
  • Silvia Stan, Assistant Professor, received the 2016 Teaching for Tomorrow Award from Purdue University.
  • Fa Wang, graduate student, received 2nd place in the 2016 Purdue University Three Minute Thesis Competition.  
  • Theresa D'Aquila, graduate student, was a finalist in the 2016 Purdue University Three Minute Thesis Competition.
  • Connie Weaver, Distinguished Professor and Head, is the 2016 recipient of the Trailblazer Award and Lectureship from IFT (joint with AND).
  • Jessica M. Ellis, Assistant Professor, is the 2016 recipient of the Peter J. Reeds Young Investigator Award from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).  This award is given for outstanding research in macronutrient metabolism accomplished within 5 years of receiving a Ph.D. degree or completing residency training.
  • Kee-Hong Kim, Courtesy Associate Professor, is the 2016 recipient of the McCormick Science Institute Research Award from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).  This award is given to an investigator conducting clinical, translational, in vitro and/or ex vivo research, whose scientific-contributions have advanced the understanding of the potential health benefits of culinary herbs and spices. This award is endowed by McCormick Science Institute.
  • Connie Weaver, Distinguished Professor and Head, has been named a 2016 American Society for Nutrition (ASN) Fellow.
  • Drew Sayer and Jing Zhou, graduate students, were finalists for the Clinical Emerging Leader Award from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).
  • Hawi Debelo, graduate student, was a finalist for the Graduate Student Research Award from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).  
  • Jia Li, graduate student, received a 2016 Mars, Inc. Predoctoral Fellowship from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).
  • Brienna Larrick, graduate student, placed first in the Vitamin and Mineral RIS Poster Competition at the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) Conference.
  • Claire Zhou, graduate student, placed third in the Diet and Cancer RIS Poster Competition at the ASN Conference.
  • Jaapna Dhillon, graduate student, placed second in the Obesity RIS Poster Competition at the ASN Conference.
  • Lauren O'Connor, graduate student, placed first in the Clinical Emerging Leaders Poster Competition for the Aging and Chronic Diseases RIS at the ASN Conference.
  • Grace Bagshaw, undergraduate student, is the 2016 recipient of the Outstanding Dietetic Student in a Coordinated Program in Indiana Award.  
  • Barb Mayfield, Continuing Lecturer, is the 2016 recipient of the Outstanding Dietetics Educator Award for Area 5 (IL, IN, OH, WV, KY, TN).
  • The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Spirit Award was given to the Purdue Coordinated Program in Dietetics.  The award was accepted by Mridul Datta.

Hall of Fame Award

The Hall of Fame Award honors alumni of this department who have made a significant contribution to the varied fields of foods and nutrition and established a unique record in their work and life. The Hall of Fame also honors the careers of those who have contributed to the growth and prominence of this department, though not alumni of this department.
