  • Kim Buhman was selected as a fellow of the Purdue University Teaching Academy.
  • Nana Gletsu Miller was promoted to associate professor.
  • Regan Bailey, associate professor, was appointed as a University Faculty Scholar.
  • Ryan Calvert, PhD student, was one of three winners in the 2017 Graduate Student Research Award competition.
  • Chao Yang, PhD student, was one of 12 finalists in the 2017 Graduate Student Research Award competition.
  • Lauren O'Connor, PhD student, was one of 5 finalists in the 2017 Clinical Emerging Leader Competition.
  • Ryan Calvert, PhD student, won the Emerging Leader Poster Competition for the Nutritional Immunology and Inflammation RIS from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).
  • Krittikan Chanpaisaeng, PhD student, was one of the winners in the Emerging Leader Poster Competition for the Nutrient-Gene Interaction RIS.
  • Lauren O'Connor, PhD student, won the Emerging Leader Poster Competition for the Aging and Chronic Disease Risk RIS from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).
  • Christian Wright, PhD student, placed first in the 3-Minute Thesis Competition at the graduate student breakfast at the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).
  • Christian Wright, PhD student, won the Emerging Leader Poster Competition for the Energy and Macronutrients Metabolism RIS from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).
  • Lizzi Stremke, PhD student, won the Emerging Leader Poster Competition for the Vitamin and Mineral RIS from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN). 
  • Jim Fleet, distinguished professor, is the 2017 recipient of the Outstanding Investigator Award from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) Vitamin and Mineral RIS.
  • Lucinda Kurzava, MS Student, is the 2017 recipient of hte HHS Outstanding Masters Student award.  Barbara Stefanska is her mentor.
  • Rachel Clark, continuing lecturer, is the recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Dietetics Educator Award in a Coordinated Program in Dietetics for Area 5 (IL, IN, OH, WV, KY, TN) of the Nutrition and Dietetics Educators and Preceptors group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  The Outstanding Dietetics Educator Award recognizes the teaching, mentoring, and leadership activities of faculty in ACEND-accredited dietetics education programs.
  • Cordelia Running, assistant professor, is the recipient of the inaugural Patsy Mellott Teaching Innovation Award from the College of Health and Human Sciences, Purdue University.
  • Nana Gletsu Miller, assistant professor, is the recipient of a 2017 AgSEED Award.
  • Tara Henagan, assistant professor, is the recipient of a 2017 AgSEED Award.
  • Michele Forman, professor and head, is the recipient of the 2017 Pfizer Consumer Healthcare Nutritional Sciences Award supported by Pfizer from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).
  • Connie Weaver, distinguished professor, is the recipient of the 2017 David Kritchevsky Career Achievement Award in Nutrition supported by Mondelez International from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN).
  • Cordelia Running, assistant professor, is the recipient of a 2017 AgSEED Award.
  • Mri Datta, Katie Hill Gallant, Dinah Dalder, Rachel Clark, Lisa Graves and Donna Zoss are the recipients of the 2016-2017 Learning Community Real-World Experience Award.
  • Kathleen Hill Gallant and Connie Weaver received the "Seed for Success" Award from the EVPRP office for the DASH-Sodium Trial in Adolescents.

Hall of Fame Award

The Hall of Fame Award honors alumni of this department who have made a significant contribution to the varied fields of foods and nutrition and established a unique record in their work and life. The Hall of Fame also honors the careers of those who have contributed to the growth and prominence of this department, though not alumni of this department.
