Re: Campus readiness for impending winter storm

Dear colleagues,

As a winter storm is set to arrive in Tippecanoe County this afternoon, I want to let you know that Administrative Operations is equipped and ready to provide safe and reliable services and address weather-related emergencies that may arise on the West Lafayette campus.

Staff will be on campus to remove snow from streets, sidewalks, parking lots and building entrances. Based upon current forecast information, campus is expected to be cleared by Saturday morning. Administrative Operations will continue to monitor conditions and respond accordingly.

With the advent of extreme cold temperatures, crews will be performing building walk-throughs, which will continue throughout the holidays and winter recess. They will assess facilities and infrastructure for frozen pipes, water leaks and other related concerns. Other Purdue staff who are working over break should immediately report these conditions to the non-emergency Purdue police dispatch center at 765-494-8221 if observed. Call 911 for emergencies. Purdue University police and fire departments are maintaining 24/7 operations.

Utility service production at our Wade Utility Plant is good, and our Energy and Utilities staff are working closely with our partnering service providers to be prepared for potential utility disruptions due to high winds.

The Union Club Hotel is open to accommodate staff as needed. Individual unit procedures should be followed for booking and/or reimbursement for food and lodging.
