Re: New Vice President, Office of Industry Partnerships

Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Nathan Utz has been named vice president for the Office of Industry partnerships, effective Dec. 14.

In this role, Nathan will provide leadership, strategic direction, and oversight to the Office of Industry Partnerships (OIP). Taking a holistic and integrated approach, OIP supports university-wide strategic relationships with industry partners to develop and expand opportunities for talent development and recruitment, research and joint programs, philanthropy and sponsorship, and executive and online education. OIP also partners on commercialization and licensing and on economic development opportunities with the Purdue Research Foundation. The office, housed within the Purdue for Life Foundation, reports to the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships.

Nathan brings a results-oriented approach to this position and will facilitate large, long-term partnerships that provide high value to companies as well as to our faculty and students.

Nathan joins Purdue from the University of Notre Dame, where he served as the senior director for corporate relations and built an industry engagement model geared toward increasing corporate partnerships and overall financial support for the university.

Nathan was also the academic advancement program director for the university’s College of Engineering, where he redefined academic fundraising and assisted in securing more than $150 million. Prior to his work at Notre Dame, he was a partial owner of the private engineering/architectural firm McDonough Associates Inc., where he was responsible for business development, management, fundraising and client relations.

I want to thank all of the members of the search committee for their excellent work.

Please join me in congratulating Nathan on his new position!

Thank you,

Theresa Mayer

Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships
