Individuals and Entities Affected

All faculty, staff, offices, departments, colleges, schools and other units of the university that utilize Race or Ethnicity Data.

Statement of Standard

In accordance with university policy and federal and state law, no admission or financial aid decision may be made on the basis of the race or ethnicity of any applicant, and no person involved in making admissions or financial aid decisions may access Race or Ethnicity Data (see Definitions section).

Purdue’s Institutional Data Analytics and Assessments (IDA+A), serves as the confidential steward of Race or Ethnicity Data and is responsible for segregating the data implicated by this standard and maintaining its confidentiality. IDA+A ensures that all Race or Ethnicity Data is electronically suppressed and/or removed from all data sources available to any person involved in making admissions or financial aid decisions throughout the entirety of each academic year’s admissions and financial aid award process.

The Provost or designee may make Race and Ethnicity Data available to university personnel who 1) demonstrate a legitimate university business need to access the data and 2) affirm that they will not share the data with any person who makes admissions or financial aid decisions.

IDA+A may make summary Race or Ethnicity Data available to university staff for purposes of analyzing that year’s admissions and financial aid process, the racial composition of the resulting admitted class, and/or for other lawful purposes.

  • Manage Race or Ethnicity Data in accordance with this standard.

Provost

  • Make determinations regarding which university personnel may access Race and Ethnicity Data, or assign a designee to do so.

This standard is issued in support of the policy on Equal Opportunity and Equal Access (III.C.2), as amended or superseded.
