Purdue community invited to Nov. 7 reception celebrating first-generation college students

The Purdue community is invited to help celebrate the assets and strengths embodied by first-generation college students during the "Proud to be First!" reception at 4:30-6 p.m. Nov. 7 in Purdue Memorial Union’s North Ballroom. The event is one of many occurring across campus as part of Purdue’s First-Gen College Student Celebration Week on Nov. 7-11.

After arriving in the U.S., Soneya Tamang began an educational path that would eventually lead her to new opportunities and to the chance to pursue a dream career. Part of the first graduating class of Purdue Polytechnic High School Schweitzer Center at Englewood, Tamang gained experience with STEM disciplines and discovered her passion for health care.
