Purdue, Duke Energy lecture series on nuclear energy to start Tuesday

Purdue University and Duke Energy will host the first monthly installment of the “Understanding Tomorrow’s Nuclear Energy” lecture series from 4-5 p.m. ET on Tuesday (Aug. 30) in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall. Registration is now open for “Clean Nuclear Energy: Past, Present, and Future,” which will provide an overview of nuclear reactor technologies.

Ashley Tippins

Purdue Global alumna aims to create change in her community as a nurse

While working as a nurse practitioner at a nursing home in rural Alabama, Ashley Tippins observed that some residents were not receiving the mental health care they needed. She wanted to help. Ashley recently completed a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner postgraduate certificate through Purdue Global and dreams of someday opening her own rural clinic. Laurie Hitze

Hitze aims to cultivate community as 2022-23 CSSAC chair

After graduating from Purdue in the early ’90s, Laurie Hitze knew she would eventually return to campus. Hitze now works as a schedule deputy in the Department of Psychological Sciences, and she aims to create the same sense of community she felt as a student nearly 30 years ago in her new role as chair of the Campus Support Staff Advisory Committee (CSSAC).
