Presidential Lecture Series guest to discuss his role leading 9/11 victims fund, others spawned by tragedies

Washington, D.C., attorney Kenneth R. Feinberg might not be well-known beyond the Beltway. But his remarkable work the past 35 years as the nation’s leading mediator in the most complex disputes and compensation claim cases certainly is. Feinberg will join President Mitch Daniels as part of Presidential Lecture Series at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 1 in Stewart Center’s Loeb Playhouse.

'This Is Purdue': Purdue-discovered drug strengthens fight against cancer

The new episode of “This Is Purdue” podcast features a Boilermaker whose innovations are changing and saving lives across the world. Philip Low, Purdue’s Presidential Scholar for Drug Discovery and the Ralph C. Corley Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, developed a recently FDA-approved drug called Cytalux, a fluorescent marker that allows cancer surgeons to quickly identify malignant cells and remove them during surgery. Sirisha Bandla

Sirisha Bandla took unconventional path into commercial spaceflight

As a child, Purdue alumna Sirisha Bandla had giant dreams. At age 34, Bandla has already taken giant leaps. She is vice president of government affairs and research operations at Virgin Galactic, and she was a mission specialist on the company’s Unity 22 mission, the first fully crewed spaceflight by a private commercial company. Virgin Galactic’s mission to open space to all is especially meaningful for Bandla.

Steps to Leaps initiative celebrates two years of supporting students

In the fall of 2019, Purdue kicked off the Steps to Leaps initiative with presentations, a faculty research panel, a student panel and table discussions among the nearly 200 participants at a summit in the Purdue ballrooms. Today, Steps to Leaps is a cohesive framework of educational materials, media and programming that supports students through its five pillars.
